Des vitamines pour lutter contre le TDAH
Un traitement avec l'aide de vitamines pourrait-il aider les enfants touchés par la TDAH. Selon Rhonda Patrick, oui.
A small study found that children with ADHD given both vitamin D (50,000 IU/week) plus magnesium (6 mg/kg/day) supplements for 8 weeks had fewer emotional, conduct, and peer problems, as well as improved prosocial scores, compared with children given a placebo.
In 2014 I published a paper showing in silico evidence that vitamin D regulates the gene (TPH2) that converts tryptophan into serotonin in the brain. Serotonin is critical for impulsive control and it's a really interesting piece to the vitamin D story.
Vitamin D as a regulator of serotonin could implicate it in neurodevelopment and neuropsychiatric disorders beyond ADHD.
In my 2015 follow-up, co-authored with Dr. Bruce Ames, we discuss the relevance for ADHD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and more.
It's important to mention that vitamin D and magnesium deficiencies are generally prevalent (at a population level), but also specifically prevalent in children with ADHD.
